Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, is known as the eleventh largest city and metropolitan area in the world. Very famous as one of the most exciting cities in Asia, there are a lot of things to do in Jakarta from cosmopolitan shopping at noon to visiting on of the hippest nightlife scenes in Southeast Asia. You could say that Jakarta, my lovely hometown, never sleeps even for a seconds.
In day, we could visit jakartan most famous amusement park that is called Taman Mini Indonesia Indah or Beautiful Miniature Indonesia Park. This place is divided into many sub areas with its special uniqeness each. There are Dunia Fantasy, Sea Wolrd Indonesia, Gelanggang Samudera, Atlantis Water Adventure, Executive Golf Fun, and Marina Bay. I suggest that you must visit its Dunia Fantasy, Sea World Indonesia, and Atlantis Water Adventure for you will get new experience that you couldn’t get at othr place. Then, I will explain the detail of each sub area. First, I will explain about Dunia Fantasy. Dunia Fantasy is Jakarta’s own theme park with over than forty main rides and attractions. This place is divided into eight regions which are Indonesia, Jakarta, Asia, Europe, America, Greece, Fantasy, and Monkey Parody. Among its most famed attraction are Halilintar Roller Coaster Ride, Niagara flume ride, Rumah Boneka, and Monkey Parody theater show. Beside them, there are still Ferris wheel, Kora-Kora, spinning cup ride, Tornado, Star Wars, and many more which are no less fun. There are even seasonal attractions which usually being held here such as Le Belles Cabaret show, Russian Circus, and Euro Kid Circus. Next, I’m going to explain about Sea World Indonesia. It is a marine park of Jakarta which contains almost 3500 animals including sharks, rays, dugongs, Lion fishes and many other fishes. In here, we could also dive at Sea World Indonesia as long as you posses its license. Of course it would be a great experience when you are diving into Shark Aquarium. Next, there is Atlantis Water Adventure which is a swimming courtyard with the mytological underwaterworld of Atlantis theme. Its facilities include a wave pool, continues flowing river pool, rainbow ball pool, volleyball court, and event centre.
Uninterested with visiting amusement park, you could do cosmopolitan shopping in Jakarta for Jakarta has very large number of shopping centres. If you must visit it all, it would need months to finish, so I will recommend you about Jakartan most popular malls. The most famous mall in Jakarta is Taman Anggrek Mall (Orchid Garden Mall) for it is the biggest Jakartan’s Shopping Mall. It is currently housed the world largest TimeZone (game centers) and Matahari Department Store. With 7 floors full of shopping spots, over than 20 exhibition areas including a spectacular 800 square metres center stadium which regularly host major events, and also the famous ice-skating rink which is boasted to be the first rink in Southeast Asia, Mall Taman Anggrek has become the most magnificent cavernous shopping complex in Jakarta. Beside Mal Taman Anggrek, there is also Plaza Senayan which self-proclaimed to be “the most stylish mall in Jakarta” and it might be right if you equate the word ‘stylish’ with the ilk of Louiss Vutton, Prada, and Gucci. This mall is a three storey shopping mall where the ground floor houses various designer boutiques, the second floor for casual wears, and the third floor as the foodcourt area. There is also movie centre here which called Plaza Senayan XXI cineplex that contains 8 standard studios and 2 premiere studios. It is said that cineplex is the first state-of-the-art cinema for its interior design. Another interesting thing available here is the Marygold Clock, the largest musical clock, which consists of 6 golden figures, each playing different instrumenls of music. After Plaza Senayan, you may also interested visiting Mall Kelapa Gading. Known as one of the biggest malls in Jakarta, it contains over than 600 tenants, more than 30 exclusive boutiques, and about 6000 square metres of food courts. The most interesting thing here is its La Piazza, an open promanade which is beautifully designed with Italian-like style.
Tired of walking around, you could satisfy your stomach pretty well for Jakartan as the main capital of Indonesia has many kind of restaurants. I will only tell you about Jakartan most famous food restaurants that I know for it is useless to tell you about fast food centres like A&W or KFC. First restaurant that should be considered is Bale Air which usually called Kampung Makanan by locals. It consists of half a dozen restaurants with outdoor table area. They sell many kind of Indonesian food here and you could choose freely any foods that interest you …. your stomach I mean. You could also try Sari Kuring for it is well known as a Sundanese seafood restaurant in Jakarta. Their favourite menus are Keong Kaker and Gurame fish. It would be fun to visit Lara Djonggrang Restaurant too if you think your wallet is too thick. Lara Djonggrang restaurant is a hi-class restaurant which serves up its self-styled “imperial Indonesian cuisine”. The prices which are around Rp50-70000 are worthy enough for the taste is really magnificent. There is also another interesting thing to do if you got a chance getling lunch here. You could ask the staff to show you around its gorgeous famous Lara Djonggrang room. If you are looking for more expensive yet elegant restaurant, there is Café Batavia. It serves international and Indonesian foods for brunch, lunch, dinner, and it roles as a party spot at night. Most of meals are upward Rp100000 ++ and you could also try its appetizer caviar which coul chill your back cool for only Rp 2 million.

The main entertainment of nightlife in Jakarta of course is its Nightclubs and Discotheques. One of many Nightclubs in Jakarta, there is X-Lounge/Vertigo which you should visit it. This place is designed as a two interconnected building where the more nightclubby Vertigo palying hard music whiles the more bar-like X-Lounge spinning R&B and Pop. The nightclub Play in Hotel Grand Ancol also worths a visit too. Among any nightclub in Jakarta, Play is the closest you could get to a strip club with its Uzbek pole dancers and truly bizzare wall murals. There is also legendary superclub in Jakarta which is Stadium. It is really a must to visit if you are looking for a real nightlife. This nightclub consists of no less than 5 dancefloors and capacity of 4000 people where the party never stops from Thursday until Monday.
If you are looking for a good quality of time enjoying drinking, Jakarta has many elegant or interesting drinking places. For example, there is Red Square or Bloody Red Square. This place is really well known for it serves up all sort of vodka-based cocktails with fire juggling bartenders. Also, there is Bugils bar, a friendly neighbourhood with semi-Dutch bar style. The interesting point in here is the staffs have good style and attitude … and great service. Other bar that you also should try is Club36 Bar. It is designed with Las Vegas bar style/girlybar style containing karaoke and gogo dancers from foreigns such as Thailand, Turkey, and East Europe.
Jakarta surely still has many interesting things that I haven’t explained above. There are still many entertainments and funs that you should try. But one thing for sure is that Jakarta never stops activiting, so there is no end of what you could do while visiting Jakarta.
