Bandung, the inappropriate metropolis city

Refer to Wikipedia English version, Metropolis is a big city with population over one million people. A metropolis is also have a significant economical effect on its region. So if we see now, Bandung is a metropolis city from the population and activities. But, if we see from the density and land management aspect, we can say that Bandung is inappropriate metropolis city.

When Indonesia was colonized by Dutchman, Bandung has been designed in detail. As an example, Dago and Cipaganti as the resident for Hollander, and Sukajadi as the resident for inlander that work for them. Thay even had a grand design for sanitary system for a whole city. After our freedom, we take control of this City. We develop what the Dutchman has been done. But with time , we can see that Bandung’s land management become miserable. Many residential area become shopping or business area. The local government only thinks for a short term. Now, we can see that Bandung has become a chaotic city.

From data we know the size of Bandung is 167.67 km2. At the beginning, Bandung was designed as a resort city with only hundred thousands people. But now, the population in Bandung is around 2.5 million. It’s only people who live and stay in Bandung. If we count the total people who have activities in Bandung, the population is around 5 million. This number is come from people who live at outer ring of Bandung like Cimahi and others that work in Bandung. Some people said that this condition is not a big problem. This is the consequences of a growing city. But, see the side effect. Many vehicle on the road, make our city polluted. Traffic jam every rush our, make many people hold at the road and become not productive. So, we can say that Bandung has become an overpopulated city with many problems as an effect.

Bandung is a big city. Many good things lies on it. But, we also know Bandung still have many problems that we have to solved. Study hard, search knonledge as many as you can. It’s our time as a young generation to make it right. Let’s make Bandung become genah, merenah, tumaninah.
